The EU and the Free State of Saxony use the ESF Plus guideline to fund projects in the areas of junior research groups and doctorates. The purpose of the funding is to utilise the educational potential in the higher education sector in order to counteract a growing shortage of skilled workers and to contribute to the gradual reduction of gender parity in ESF funding in the higher education sector, both overall and in relation to individual subject areas. Details are set out in the Guideline ESF Plus Universities and Research.

Information on the 2024 funding round for ESF doctoral scholarships

Application outlines for projects with a planned start on 1st January 2025 must be submitted electronically to the Vice-Rectorate for Research by 10th July 2024. The following template should be used to prepare the outlines: Template_Project_outline_ESF-Promotions.docx (document also contains further information on preparing the project outlines).
