The EU and the Free State of Saxony use the ESF Plus guideline to fund projects in the areas of junior research groups and doctorates. The purpose of the funding is to utilise the educational potential in the higher education sector in order to counteract a growing shortage of skilled workers and to contribute to the gradual reduction of gender parity in ESF funding in the higher education sector, both overall and in relation to individual subject areas.
